Hello, and welcome to ‘Joanne Wright Psychology’.
I passionately believe that people have the capacity for change. The challenge is
often that people feel stuck, de-motivated or overwhelmed – personally and at work
– and hold a view that change is beyond their grasp.
My aim is to work with you, or your teams, in order to move away from a place of
unhelpful strategies repeat disappointments and stagnation - towards a place of
opportunity, growth, and self-development.
My mindset and skills are based upon over 20 years of working within the field of
mental health and applied psychology.
I Chartered as a Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) in 2004
and now I am an Associate Fellow.
I am registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions
Council (HCPC) – the regulatory body established to protect the public and set
standards for clinical practice.
As such, you can be assured that I am highly qualified in my role and I will practice
ethically, appropriately and responsibly.
My primary training was within forensic psychology. This included working with male
and female offenders in custody and in the community.
As a Senior Manager, I provided consultancy to prison service Governors, the police,
probation, and social services. My roles incorporated psychological therapy, risk
assessment, staff training, crisis intervention, and policy development.
Since leaving the prison service in 2015, I have continued to make a significant
investment into my personal and professional development.
In addition to being a Chartered Psychologist, I am qualified in a range of therapeutic
tools. This includes Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Clinical
Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Acceptance & Commitment
Therapy (ACT).
Regarding training, I am an accredited Instructor with Mental Health First Aid
(MHFA) England. I deliver training, which is invigorating, enlightening, and fun!
We all
have ‘mental health’ – yet we do not seem to have to language to talk as openly
about this element of our construct, as we do about physical issues.
I can enable your staff, managers, and CEO’s to become more confident in
identifying the signs that someone may be struggling – and to learn how to approach
difficult situations empathetically, confidentially, and with insight.
I also devise and deliver bespoke training programmes relating to COVID-19 Mental
Health & Wellbeing; Anger Management and Mindfulness & Relaxation. I can devise
and deliver training services to match the unique needs of your workplace, staffing
group, or home workers.
One further element of my work relates to engaging with children and adults who
may have, or seek, support or diagnosis relating to Autism Spectrum Condition
(ASC).
As an accredited user of the Diagnostic Interview for Social and
Communication Disorders (DISCO), I provide assessments and diagnoses to aid
access to educational services and support networks.
So, whether we work together therapeutically, in training, or in a consultative way,
you can be assured that I will deliver outstanding service based upon in-depth
knowledge and experience.
I look forward to hearing from you.
